Evangeline “Cuchi” Shirley Carreira, 70, of Ainaloa died Dec. 12 at home. Born in Hilo, she was a homemaker. Visitation 10-11 a.m. Sunday (Jan. 15) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at Alae Cemetery. Casual attire. Survived by sons, Larry Pagan of California, Carlos Serrano of San Diego and Allen (Joy) Pagan of Hilo; daughters, Desiree (Richard) Kirkpatrick of Mountain View and Joanne (Evelyn) Pagan of Ainaloa; sister, Violet (Albert) Diedriks of Waimea; brothers, John Gilbert Ramos and Larry Pagan of Hilo; six grandchildren and a great-grandchild; nieces and nephews. Francis “Bolo Boy” Keawe Kaaihue Jr., 57, of Hilo died Dec. 27 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Honolulu, he was a former apprentice painter for Hawaii Painting Co. Born in Flushing, N.Y., she was a retired director of nursing for former Honokaa Hospital, member of Our Lady Lourdes Catholic Church, senior advisor of the former Hawaiian Civic Club in Hamakua; volunteer and auxiliary at Hale Ho‘ola Hamakua; volunteer of the former Hamakua Health Center Urgent Care; board member of Hamakua Health Center and Brantley Center, supporter of Honokaa American Cancer Society Relay for Life and American Red Cross Disaster Relief and volunteer and honoree for Hawaii County RSVP. Visitation 10:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday (Jan. 14) at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa. Memorial service at 12 noon. Casual attire.
